Melbourne Beach, Florida – On a sunny, humid afternoon in their first outing on March 3, 2025, the Falcons soared to a 5-2 victory, dominating Saginaw Valley State.
This win marked BGSU’s first program victory in their overall record against SVSU, as these teams had not previously faced each other.
Doubles
In this outing, the ladies started with doubles as Tia Clemens and Isabella Baker took on Adriana Barrio and Amelia Dickerson. Clemens and Baker took the victory (6-4) in a hard-fought battle.
The next match saw Saginaw Valley win 4-6, as Lydria Liong and Elizabeth Stuart contributed to the win against BGSU Quanyu Liu and Konstania Adamopoulou. This made the last match-up for grabs for both squads.
Finally, in doubles, BGSU Leticia Fonseca and Lucia Gaio defended the Diamantopoulos twins (Anastasia and Nicoletta) to win the tournament.
Singles
In the singles matches, the BGSU women stood tall, taking four out of the six, with Clemens, Liu, Adamopoulou, and Gaio winning their respective matches.
However, the Diamantopoulos twins for the Cardinals redeemed themselves from their loss in the doubles match to win against Fonseca and Chafee.

Day Two:
Lake Nona, Florida—In an early morning match, the Falcons were set to play Loyola (Md.) on March 4, 2025, at noon. A day after, they played SVSU; Bowling Green was set for another first-time match-up in program history.
This match resulted in BGSU losing 4-3 to the Grey Hounds, as it came down to the wire.
Doubles
Bowling Green dropped two out of three, with Fonseca and Gaio (BGSU) defeating Jocelyn Assael and Emi Shivkumar (LOY) with an outstanding 6-1 victory.
But the pairs of Clemens and Baker lost 0-6 without scoring a point against Loyola’s senior Lauren Manwiller and freshman Emma Roeck.
Finally, Liu and Adamopoulou were up to try to win the doubles side of the tournament but came up short, losing 4-6 to the team of LOY’s Christine Richiez and Jessica Bodewes.
Singles
BGSU was determined to get back into this match, and this is exactly what they did as three of the athletes– Clemens, Liu, and Gaio– continued their strong years, achieving victory over competitors such as Richiez, Manwiller, and Eoeck.
Ultimately, they would tie the singles outing, with Adamopoulou, Fonseca, and Chaffe suffering the losses. Chaffe and Adamopoulou went the distance in their matches, fighting three rounds but ultimately being taken down.
Single Scores
- Tia Clemens (BGSU) def Christine Richiez (LOY), 6-3,6-3
- Quanyu Liu (BGSU) def Lauren Manwiller (LOY) 6-4, 7-6 (2)
- Elena Hartley (LOY) def Konstantina Adamopoulou (BGSU), 6-0,2-6,2-6

- Lucia Gaio (BGSU) def Emma Roeck (LOY), 6-2, 6-2
- Jessica Bodewes (LOY) def. Brynn Chaffe (BGSU), 4-6,6-4,2-6
Due to the losses in the doubles match, this would hurt the Falcons’ chances of achieving victory.
BGSU’s season record is 8-4 as of now, as they currently place third in the East Division standings, sitting behind Buffalo and Toledo.
Bowling Green’s next outing will be at the Perrysburg Tennis Center against Oakland on Friday, March 14, at 1 p.m., as they look to rebound from the loss and get some rest before this weekend’s matchup.
