BGSU gymnastics (4-12) (0-6 in MAC) lost their final Mid-American Conference (MAC) meet of the season 194.275-194.250 to Northern Illinois (5-11) (2-3 in MAC).
The meet was Bowling Green’s closest loss margin (0.025) of the season, and the Falcons scored the third-most points in a meet this year.
Vault
The Falcons won 48.975 to 48.725 on vault over the Huskies. Senior Katrina Mendez-Abolnik won the event with a season-high 9.875 points for Bowling Green.
Bowling Green junior Megan Bingham came in second place with a 9.850, tying a career-high she set in last week’s tri-meet.
Bowling Green’s 0.250 margin of victory in the vault helped keep the meet close, despite the Falcons losing the other three events.
Uneven Bars
The Huskies were more successful on the uneven bars, beating the Falcons 48.475 to 48.350. Freshman Katie Ferguson won the event for NIU with 9.800 points.
Senior Kennady Kreinbrink led the event for Bowling Green, finishing in fourth place with a 9.700.
Balance Beam
NIU won the balance beam event 48.325 to 48.200 over Bowling Green. Senior Ellery Werner won the event with a 9.850 for the Huskies.
Meghan Bingham and sophomore Love Akpan were shortly behind Werner, finishing tied for second for Bowling Green with 9.800. The score was a season-high for Akpan.
Floor Exercise
The Huskies sneaked out a 48.750 to 48.725 win over the Falcons on the floor. Bowling Green freshman Kayla Shaw and NIU sophomore Mikayla Brown tied for first in the event, each scoring 9.800 points.
Top Gymnasts
Megan Bingham once again won the all-around, scoring 39.075 points in the meet. Kayla Shaw also had a great afternoon, winning her second-floor event of the season.
Despite not winning an event, sophomore Isabella Ross and junior Jocelyn Harbeck had the Huskies’ best all-around scores (38.650).
The Falcons will face 8th-ranked Michigan State on March 16 to cap off the 2025 regular season.
