BGSU hockey’s goaltender Christian Stoever is a finalist for the CCHA Goaltender of the Year award in 2025 amidst a standout senior season.
The senior from Northville, Michigan, is having his best season of four with the Falcons. He has the best goals against average (1.74), save percentage (.942), wins and winning percentage (12-2-3/.794) and shutouts (3) of his career.
In the CCHA, Stoever is second in goals against, save percentage and shutouts behind Alex Tracy of Minnesota State and second in saves per game (28.8) behind Northern Michigan’s Ryan Ouellette.
In the NCAA, he is third in goals against average, second in save percentage and fifth in winning percentage. In a subjective analysis, Stoever is a top three statistical goalie in the NCAA with Tracy and Boston College’s Jacob Fowler.
Stoever is a finalist with Tracy and Augustana’s Josh Kotai. Kotai’s statistics are third to Stoever and Tracy, Tracy the clear favorite of the 2025 Goaltender of the Year.
In 2024, Bemidji State goaltender Mattias Sholl won the CCHA Goaltender of the Year award and earned the 2025 Preseason CCHA Goaltender of the Year. He did not finish as a finalist in the 2025 post-regular season, no higher than eighth in the CCHA in any statistical category.
