The Mid-American Conference (MAC) has announced their 2024-25 All-MAC Teams and specialty award winners, with four BGSU women’s basketball players earning recognition for their performances this season.
Senior guard Amy Velasco was named to the All-MAC First Team and fifth-year forward Lexi Fleming earned All-MAC Third Team honors.
Freshman guard Johnea Donahue got herself a spot on the All-MAC Freshman Team and the All-MAC Defensive Team. While sophomore guard Paige Kohler got an All-MAC Honorable mention.
Velasco, in her final year with Bowling Green, leads the team in scoring and assists with 16.1 points and 4.9 assists per game. She leads the MAC in minutes played (1,083), three-point field goal percentage (43.3%), and free-throw shooting (92.9%).
This season, Velasco has scored in double-figures in 27 out of the 30 games and is just the second player in program history to score over 1,500 points and provide more than 400 assists. She also moved up to eighth on the all-time scoring list and sixth on the assists chart.
Fleming has appeared in 22 games for Bowling Green while making 21 starts since returning from injury. She is averaging 13.4 points, 3.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. Fleming also broke a program record for points scored in a quarter, scoring 21 against Kent State in the home finale on March 5.
Throughout her Bowling Green career, Fleming has scored 1,196 career points and ranks third in program history in steals per game with 2.15. She is also fourth in three-pointers made per game with 1.92.
In her 27 games this season, Donahue leads the MAC in steals per game with 2.41 while averaging 7.4 points per game. In the last 11 games with her in the starting five the Falcons have gone 9-2.
Donahue was two steals shy of a program record, in BG’s home 81-72 win against Toledo.
Kohler, in her sophomore season, is second on the team in scoring (13.4), rebounding (4.7) and assists (3.5). She is third in the MAC in minutes played, starting all 30 games for the Orange and Brown. Matter of fact, Kohler has started all 61 games she has played at Bowling Green.
So far in her career with BG, Kohler has scored 745 points, grabbed 271 rebounds and dished out 217 assists.
