Bowling Green defensive line coach Cornell Brown will not be back under Eddie George, he announced on ‘X’.
Brown, a former All-American at the linebacker position, was hired by Scot Loeffler in February 2024 after a stint with the New Orleans Breakers of the United States Football League (USFL).
“Free agency for a coach is the life I’m living! Not being enough to maintain your position is bought but the cards dealt,” Brown said in his post. “Goal to find a way to rise again. My mind must be stronger than the situation.”
Multiple players chimed in on the situation in the replies of the post, including former defensive tackle Dontrez Brown, who left the words, “Praying for you coach.”
Under Brown’s tutelage, the Falcons ranked 36th in the nation in sacks, totaling 33.
Defensive tackle Anthony Hawkins was named third-team all-Mid-American Conference.
Alongside Brown, assistant coach Robert Armand announced via X that he will not return as cornerbacks coach under George.
Armand, who spent three seasons as a quality control coach and graduate assistant with the Falcons from 2019-21, was hired as the Falcons’ CBs coach in June of 2024 after three months as the outside linebackers coach at the University of Maine.
“Thank you BGSU and Coach Loeffler for taking a chance on me: from volunteer to GA to Position Coach,” Armand said in his post. “Thank you to all the players for believing and trusting me. With that being said, I will not be retained due to the new staff. Looking for my next opportunity!”
Under Armand, BGSU cornerbacks Jordan Oladokun and Jacorey Benjamin landed on All-Mid-American Conference teams, earning first-team and third-team honors, respectively.
The Falcons pass defense ranked 24th in the nation, allowing 185.4 passing yards per game.
