BGSU hockey’s senior left-winger Ryan O’Hara has signed with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits of the ECHL, an affiliate of the NHL’s LA Kings.
O’Hara finished his final two seasons of hockey with Bowling Green as the team’s leading scorer. In 2024-25‘ he was one of the CCHA leaders, netting 11 goals with 22 assists for the fifth most points in the conference.
His season started dry in goals, 11 assists recorded before his first score on Dec. 29 against RIT. However, O’Hara still managed to grab five game winning goals, three in four games to start 2025.
The Oakville, Ont. native reached nearly 90 points in his four-year BGSU career, 36 goals and 53 assists in 131 games played. He earned his way to being a co-captain in 2024-25‘ alongside fellow forward Ethan Scardina also earning an All-CCHA Second Team selection in 2025, the first all-conference award of his career.
O’Hara is the first graduating Falcon in 2025 to sign with an NHL affiliate, the first since Spencer Kersten and Josh Nodler signed with the Orlando Solar Bears (Tampa Bay Lightning) and the Toledo Walleye (Detroit Red Wings) in 2024.
Greenville, located in South Carolina, is currently in last place in the ECHL South division, third-to-last in the overall conference.
