Bobcats on top
It seems that it was wrong to think Ball State would be the team Miami would have to look out for, as the Ohio University Bobcats climb from third to first in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) standings.
The 20-8 Bobcats are looking to dominate with a significant gap between them and Miami (15-15). It looks like Ohio University, Miami, and Ball State will be in the race for the top three seedings, with Bowling Green skyrocketing thanks to their successful performances from last weekend.
Falcons take home weekly honors
The Bowling Green Falcons weren’t done after sweeping the Kent State Golden Flashes this past weekend, they had to sweep the weekly honors as well. Not just in the MAC either.
MAC Softball Player of the Week and Division I Softball National Freshman of the Week – Addie Martin:
It seems that Martin has been making a name for herself, not only securing MAC and national honors but also making some history. According to Bowling Green Athletics, after this weekend, Martin became the second player in school history with at least 10 homers and stolen bases in a season.
Martin was cranking behind home plate this weekend, earning season highs in hits (four), home runs (two), runs scored (three), triples (one), and bases stolen (two). With a batting average of .348, Martin is one to look out for this season.
MAC Softball Pitcher of the Week – Mackenzie Krafcik (Junior):
Pitching four out of five games for the Falcons this weekend, and winning all four, saying Krafcik’s performance helped the Falcons with their success is an understatement.
During this weekend of success, Krafcik threw for a total of 17 innings and, according to Bowling Green athletics, held a 1.19 earned run average (ERA).
Krafcik’s performance sealed the Falcons’ 10-18 overall record and 4-2 MAC record, taking them from eighth in the MAC to fourth and topping the overall and conference win totals for all of last season.
