Transitioning from Indoor to Outdoor season seems no issue for the distance runners of BGSU track and field, as five athletes made their outdoor season debut on Friday at the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State.
Junior Kylee Cubbison further cemented her place in the history books when she broke BGSU’s program record in the 5000m run, beating the old time by around 23 seconds with her mark of 16:03.81.
The record marks Cubbison’s third program record, with the others coming in the mile and 3000m events during this year’s indoor competition.
Rachael Withrow and Regina Rose also marked personal records in the event, running 17:08.58 and 17:13.81 respectively.
A pair of freshmen doubled for the day, competing in the 1500m and 800m events.
Rachael Hoover and Reese Reaman debuted in the 1500m event. The two performed strong amidst roughly 200 runners, setting personal standards of 4:28.17 and 4:28.60.
The pair also excelled in the 800m, with Hoover running 2:08.78 and Reaman running 2:09.54. Hoover was also the fifth-fastest among freshmen in the highly competitive field. Both athletes set top 10 times in program history for both events on the day.
Ohio University’s Cherry Blossom Meet on Friday, April 4 will be the next site where the Falcons compete, previewing the track upon which the MAC Championship meet will be hosted.
