Mid-American Conference (MAC) softball has adopted a new campaign as they wave the flags after huge wins against Big Ten conference schools.
The Central Michigan Chippewas are the latest to “fly the flag” after their shutout 4-0 victory against the Michigan State Spartans. This win helps the Chippewas stay secure in fourth in the MAC standings.
This campaign came to fruition in 2018, when (according to SBNation) MAC commissioner Jon Steinbrecher wanted the MAC to display a pirate flag in events of upsets or notable victories. According to SBNation, Steinbrecher stated, “We may not have the biggest ships or stadiums, but we’re manned by well-motivated captains, which are our coaches, and the crews, which are our student-athletes, and chips on our shoulder to go out there and prove ourselves.”
