This weekend brought more tallies to winning streaks and losing streaks for many teams. Of course, Miami is still secure at the top with Ohio and Central Michigan following close behind in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) standings.
Here are some highlights of the weekend:
First career no-hitter for Kylee Graham
Although the weekend wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows for the Toledo Rockets, this no-hitter was sure to put a smile on their faces, especially for Senior pitcher Kylee Graham.
On Friday night (March 28), Graham pitched five innings to secure her first career no-hitter against Akron. Graham also got her season-high of five strikeouts in this game. The Rockets would go on to lose this series against Akron, with their last-minute attempts to rally failing.
Weekly Awards Split
Player of the Week – Mckenna Campbell (Sophomore, Miami University)
Miami is hot right now with a nine-game winning streak and remains undefeated against the MAC. So it should be no surprise to see another Miami player earn their well-deserved weekly honors.
Mckenna Campbell is the sophomore catcher leading the Miami offense, holding a .800 batting average 18 putouts, and four assists on defense (according to Miami University Athletics). Campbell is currently fifth overall in the MAC in fielding with an astonishing .991 Fielding Percentage.
Pitcher of the Week – Skipp Miller (Junior, Ohio University)
After making two appearances and pitching nine innings, the redshirt Junior Skipp Miller had her opponents hitting a .176 batting average against her. Miller’s first appearance over the weekend would see her pitching all seven innings, allowing only one run and four hits, sealing Ohio’s victory over Kent State.
Ohio University is second overall in the MAC, right behind the dominant Miami University.
