BGSU hockey have landed their second incoming transfer of the 2025 offseason. According to Mike McMahon of College Hockey Insider Sophomore defenseman Rihards Simanovics committed the Falcons after two seasons with the Miami Redhawks of the NCHC.
At 6’3 and 197 lbs., Simanovics played 63 games with Miami (OH) over the two seasons scoring eight assists in his first campaign and one goal with three assists in his second. In 2024-25 he took only five penalties for ten total minutes in the box and added 36 blocks on the blue line for the Redhawks.
The Riga, Latvia native has previously played for the Amarillo Wranglers of the NAHL, scoring 16 goals and 29 assists in 53 games played in 2022-23. He has also played 16 games for Latvia in the U20 World Junior Classic, scoring one goal and three assists with an even rating (0).
