Orange creamsicle, peach raspberry crisp and raspberry caramel are just a few out of the ordinary flavors you can order at Starbucks.
Starbucks’ customers have created a “secret menu” for people who want something out of the ordinary.
Assistant Manager of the Starbucks in the Union Jeremiah Crespo said some of the flavors he has seen include snickers, Nutella, fruity pebbles and peppermint patty.
Crespo said the menu itself is something that isn’t written down, and the baristas aren’t trained on the items. The menu hasn’t been heavily publicized and isn’t found in the shops.
“It is not something that has been put up by corporate itself,” Crespo said. “It’s based on what customers come up with and then it catches on.”
The price is based on the average price for the type of drink ordered, and then extra for the added flavors.
The items on the secret menu rarely make it to the real Starbucks menu and pricing the items on the menu isn’t a definite thing, Crespo said.
Crespo said he thinks the menu won’t ever be heavily publicized.
“It is one of those things that people make drinks up and they catch on like it’s a new word,” Crespo said. “It kind of makes it interesting and hip and fun for Starbucks.”
Crespo said the menu will continue to grow more and more as the years go on.
Senior Alan Watson said some students find out about the secret menu through rumors or searching the Internet and other people find out from their friends.
Watson said the menu is good for people who want to try something different from their usual drink.
“The fact that it’s secret and something I can’t normally get is cool,” Watson said.
Graduate Lori Feiszli said she would order something off the secret menu if she didn’t feel like drinking anything off of their posted menu.
She thinks the idea of a secret menu is a good idea, but with one exception.
“I don’t think it’s a bad idea as long as they can accommodate everyone,” Feiszli said.
Courtney Hollister, a graduate student, agreed with Feiszli when it comes to accommodating the wants and needs of the customer.
“As long as they can say yes to everyone instead of yes to some and no to others I say go for it,” Hollister said.
