Students will have a chance to solve a murder at the Oaks Friday as part of an interactive mystery.
Friday evening, Bowling Green will host its first “Murder Mystery Night” event at the Oaks.
The theme of the event is “1920’s Gangsterland” and students are encouraged to dress accordingly and participate when those from the show request it. There will also be three different “murders” throughout the course of the show that students may be involved in.
Oaks employee Natasha Cramer is looking forward to the event.
“I’m actually pretty excited to work the event,” Cramer said. “I think it’ll be a great, great way to bring attention to the Oaks and offer a nice, fun-filled night for the students.”
Doors will open for the sold-out event at 6 p.m. and the event will be in a sectioned off area of the Oaks. The show will begin at 7 p.m. and the rest of the dining hall will be open as usual.
For three swipes, $35 per person or $60 per couple, students can enjoy one of the Oaks’ more high quality dinners along with dessert and beverages served by Oaks employees. Payment could also be made through Falcon dollars, cash or credit card.
In addition, actors from “The Murder Mystery Company” out of Grand Rapids, Mich. will perform an interactive show called “Crime and Pun-ishment” in which the audience members will be able to participate. Students will also have the chance to win prizes throughout the event.
According to Oaks General Manager Magdy Abouzied, the event was limited to 120 students.
“We did not advertise the event besides in campus updates and we already sold out yesterday,” Abouzied said. “We’re just glad to provide something fun and different for the students.
Sophomore Erin Reece also thought the event was a good idea for students.
“I don’t have a meal plan anymore but I wish I did so I could go,” Reece said. “It sounds like a lot of fun.”
Abouzied also stressed the importance of students being able to make the most of their meal plan.
“So many students have left over swipes at the end of the semester,” Abouzied said. “If they are paying for it anyway, why not give them a way to get value out of their swipes by doing something fun as the year is ending.”
