Having just completed his senior season at BGSU, Falcon forward Sam Craggs has signed with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL for the remainder of the season.
The Walleye, a Detroit Red Wings affiliate, signed Craggs for the remainder of the 2021-2022 season. Craggs, the brother of former Falcon Lukas — a current member of the Rochester Americans in the AHL — had a storied career in his four years at Bowling Green.
Craggs was just one of only five Falcon players to appear in all 37 games this past season. Craggs also holds the all-time program record for games played at 181. Craggs was known within the BG program for his physical style of play, and his stat sheet reflects this.
Within the program, Craggs ranks ninth all time in penalty minutes with 295. Craggs racked up 30 goals and 34 assists in his career as a Falcon, finishing strong with a nine-goal senior campaign, the fourth most on the team. Two of those goals came in the second game of the Falcon’s CCHA quarterfinal appearance against Bemidji State, the only goals which the Falcon’s put up in the four to two loss.
Craggs will be a strong addition to the Walleye lineup as they head into the final months of the season. The Walleye sit atop the central division with record of 40-16, the best in the ECHL.
