On Saturday night, Bowling Green clutched a 3-1 win on the road versus Air Force, making this their first win of the 2022 season.
With a scoreless first period, Bowling Green fell behind as Air Force had nine shots, while the BG Falcons only shot twice. Junior Brendan Graves was the starting goalie and had two saves during the first period.
Following halftime, Bowling Green came out of the gate blazing; scoring a goal within one minute of the second period. The goal was scored by midfielder Kyle Cusimano, assisted by fellow midfielder Kale Nichols.
Sophomore Alberto Anaya continued to strike, taking two shots in the next ten minutes of playing time. He would later be interrupted by Air Force’s Thaddaeus Dewing scoring in minute 65 of the game. Following this goal, with the score being 1-1, Anaya’s hard work would pay off as he scored Bowling Green’s second goal of the game.
Following a few substitutions between the two teams, Bowling Green scored once again with help from Sergi Martinez, assisted by Kyle Cusimano. Attempting to extend their lead, the BG Falcons took two more shots that didn’t go the distance (Masters, Akpunonu). With the eight remaining minutes of gameplay, the Falcons from Air Force also attempted to score, but fell short (Angeletti).
With a final score 3-1 and a win under their belts, the Falcons will return home to take on Oakland on Friday, September 23rd.
