  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]
  • Jeanette Winterson for “gAyPRIL”

Stay connected, pick up the paper

Coming to campus for the first time or preparing to return for another year can be a confusing and

intimidating.

Upon transferring here halfway through my freshmen year, I wasn’t sure what do to or how to find out what was going on until I picked up a copy of The BG News.

Just as the campus and community have, The BG News has evolved since then.

It’s gone from printing five days a week to three, while upping its website’s abilities and content.

This fall we plan to continue evolving as a staff by trying to offer students what they really want so that they can watch, tweet, like and read The BG News all the time.

While the staff of The BG News will be hard at work trying to come up with new ways to reach the students, we want you to interact with us in any way that you can.

Pick up a copy of the print edition every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Check out BGNews.com for daily updates, new content and more input from

students this fall.

Utilize The BG News, BGNews.com and its social media sites to voice your opinions, thoughts or ideas. Also, don’t forget to scan one of our QR codes around campus or go online to download either our Apple or Android app.

We’re lucky that we have such an amazing platform to communicate and interact through.

All students should try to write a letter or submit a screech at least once. Pop it on your graduation bucket list ASAP.

This fall The BG News will offer even more ways for students to interact and get involved with the content itself.

By adding more blogs, social media sites like Instagram and Pinterest and multiple ways for students to input their ideas, we’ll make The BG News a better product and tool in print and online.

Take advantage of The BG News, if for nothing else than to stay informed.

It is one of the largest student groups on campus filled with dedicated student reporters, designers, photographers, videographers

and more.

Whether you’re browsing BGNews.com or picking up a print edition, we promise we won’t let you down with what you’re reading this fall.
