Police investigate student hanging at BG High School

Bowling Green City Police are continuing to investigate a death at Bowling Green High School. Jeffrey Laskey, 17 was found having hung himself in a school restroom early yesterday morning.

Police were dispatched and responded to the call at 8:23 a.m.

The juvenile was transported to Wood County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The incident occurred shortly before the call was made, according to Lieutenant Brad Biller of the city police.

“It is our understanding that it happened shortly before; it was not overnight,” Biller said.

The juvenile’s family has been notified, and BGHS is working with mental health officials to provide grief counseling for students.

There has been no indication of any other children placed at risk during the incident, according to Biller.

“At this point it’s a coroner’s case,” Biller said, adding that the city police will continue to investigate the matter in conjunction with Bowling Green Area Schools.
