Danny Elfman and Tim Burton first worked together in 1993 on the movie “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”
This year, they reunite for Burton’s new movie, “The Corpse Bride.” In the movie, Elfman continues to awe movie goers and music lovers with his original music.
There are multiple similarities in both soundtracks that make it easy to tell they were done by the same person. For example, the melodies in the songs are similar. While listening to the main titles, you can hear traces of “This is Halloween.”
Also, the tones of the songs are the same for both movies: dark and gloomy.
The movie is about a character named Victor who puts his wedding ring on a stick and says his wedding vows as a joke.
It turns out that the stick is the boney finger for a skeleton girl who comes to life and claims Victor is her husband.
The music flows well with the movie. It helps tell the story when words can not. The mixture of instruments in the orchestra is amazing and the music is complex. Intertwined with the orchestral songs are songs with lyrics. The lyrics also help explain the story and add a humoristic tone to the CD.
This soundtrack is amazing and if it’s any indication, the movie probably is as well.
