Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

CD Review: Our Lady Peace

Our Lady Peace

“Healthy In Paranoid Times”

Columbia Records

Grade: A

‘#160;

Our Lady Peace’s seventh CD on the market, “Healthy In Paranoid Times” was released August 30th. For their fans, this CD isn’t anything new. However this is not to say the CD is anything but awesome.

The inside cover grabs your attention first claiming “1165 days were needed to record this CD.” If you continue to look at where the lyrics to the songs should be, you instead find a list of things that happened within those 1165 days.’#160; These things cover a variety of different topics. For example, “43 songs were written and recorded” leads one page and “6708 hours of TV were watched by the average child” leads the next. The last page contains a list of websites to check out if you’d like to better your health and well being.

One song, “The World on a String” catches your attention with its opening lyrics; “I see the world on a string/ it’s hanging from a wire/ it’s gets tangled up and spun around/ like the truth inside a liar.”

This CD isn’t anything new by Our Lady Peace which could be a good thing or a bad thing. If you liked their sound before you’ll enjoy this CD. If you were in the mood for something new, this isn’t for you. But none the less, this CD is worth a listen.
