  • They Both Die at the End – General Review
Summer break is the perfect opportunity to get back into reading. Adam Silvera’s (2017) novel, They Both Die at the End, can serve as a stepping stone into the realm of reading. The pace is fast, action-packed, and develops loveable characters. Also, Silvera switches point of view each chapter where narration mainly focuses on the protagonists, […]
  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Women golfers head to Illinois

The Bowling Green women’s golf team will travel to the Illinois Invitational in Champaign this weekend, where they will try to take advantage of the weather conditions and play their best rounds this season.

The Falcons placed fifth out of 10 teams at last weekend’s Bronco Invitational with single round scores of 333 and 327. This weekend they will compete against 16 other teams, including Arkansas State, Bradley, Cincinnati, Eastern Illinois, Ferris State, Grand Valley State, Illinois, Illinois State, Indianapolis, Missouri-Kansas City, Northern Illinois, Southern Illinois, Southwest Missouri State, Truman State and Western Michigan.

BG’s team of Shelley Binzel, Jenny Schnipke, Shannon Smith, Stephanie Elsea and Emily Hassen set a team goal to shoot around a 310 or 315 and individually around 80 or below 80. “We’re expecting really good weather so we’re all expecting to have really good scores,” Binzel said.

Binzel shot the low score of the tournament last weekend with a 77. She talked about her impressive score considering the weather conditions.

“I didn’t really set a number going into the second day because the weather conditions were horrible, and as soon as we teed off, it started pouring down rain, and that’s the way it was all day,” Binzel said.

“I was just trying to play one shot at a time and I realized that I was going to have some bad shots and I was just hoping to get some good breaks. I got a couple of putts to fall for me towards the end and made a couple of birdies and that really helped.”
