Coaches needed for grade school soccer
The BG News
The city of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department is currently looking for volunteer coaches for their Youth Soccer Program.
The soccer teams are co-ed and range from first-sixth graders. Coaches would be required to attend two one-hour practices and one game per week.
“College students are great because many have soccer experience,” said Kristin Otley, recreational coordinator for the department. “They have confidence in teaching soccer skills that some parents may not have.”
Otley said the department has let groups of students work together in the past and that is also an option.
The season runs from seven to eight weeks, depending on the weather.
Volunteers will be put through training by the National Youth Sports Coaches Association and will be licensed coaches at completion of the training.
