September 28, 2022
BOWLING GREEN, OH- After putting up six goals against Oakland just four days earlier, BGSU men’s soccer failed to convert any shots into goals last night, falling to the Western Michigan Broncos 1-0 on Tuesday. The loss snapped a two game win streak for the Falcons, dropping their record to 2-3-3, while the Broncos record improves to 7-1.
For the Falcons, they struggled to move the ball all night, as they finished a match scoreless for the fifth time this season. Sergi Martinez had three shots, while reigning MAC player of the week, Alberto Anaya, had two of his own, including a shot on goal.
The Falcons continued their troubling trend of stagnant offense. In wins against Air Force and Oakland, the Orange and Brown have scored nine goals across those two matches. In their losses and ties, however, they have scored only one goal across those six matches.
After losing their season opener to Butler on August 25, Western Michigan has won seven straight matches. After shutting out the Falcons, the Broncos have now their held their opponent scoreless for the sixth time this season. Senior Eric Courtney scored the only goal of the day with an assist from Freshman Tanner Hodgson in the 67th minute.
The Falcons will look to jump start their offense next time out, as they travel to face Georgetown on Saturday at 1 PM.
