The Bowling Green Police Division issued a press release warning the public of recent instances of scam phone calls.

Several individuals in the area have reported receiving phone calls from people falsely claiming to be with the BGPD. The scam callers are attempting to acquire money by alerting call receivers to fake fines for missing court dates.

BGPD wants to remind the general public that they do not officially make calls to individuals regarding outstanding fines and are urging the public not to provide scam callers with their personal or financial information.

BGPD said it aims to maximize the well-being of the community by bringing awareness to situations such as these. They reiterated their mission statement is “to improve the quality of life in the city’s neighborhoods, to involve the community in decisions which directly affect them and to provide the necessary services identified by the community as important.”
