BGSU Gymnastics falls short against West Virginia

It came down to the wire, but the Bowling Green Falcons Gymnastics squad came up just short against the West Virginia Mountaineers. 

 The Falcons fell in West Virginia at the WVU coliseum with a final score of 196.575 – 194.800.  

Despite scoring their best team score on the road with a total of 194.800 points, the Orange and Brown were narrowly defeated by the Mountaineers in all four competitions. 

BG totaled 48.925 points for the vault, 48.250 points for the bars, 48.575 points for the beams, and 49.050 points for the floor score. WVU won each category by a narrow margin. 

WVU totaled 49.200 points for the vault, 48.875 points for the bars, 48.925 points for the beams, and 49.575 points for the floor score.

The most significant margin of victory for the Mountaineers was .725 points for the vault.   

Bowling Green’s scores on the vault and floor competitions were their best scores of the season.  

Senior Taylor Jensen had an outstanding day, placing second with 39.175 points.

Jensen won the vault with a score of 9.900. After this competition, Jenson now has 50 career top-three finishes with the the Falcons.

The Falcon’s next competition will send them all the way to the nation’s capital, as they will compete in a meet at George Washington.

The meet will also include competition from Western Michigan, Fisk, and Ursinus. The meet will begin on February 24 at 7 pm.
