Sophomore Katrina Mendez Abolnik competed in the NCAA Gymnastics Regionals held at Pittsburgh University on Thursday.

To earn her first NCAA bid in the individual vault event, Mendez Abolnik logged her career-high score of 9.900 two weeks in a row.

She then scored a 9.825 in the MAC Championships, where she placed eighth.

Mendez Abolnik’s 9.900 score is tied for the seventh-highest vault score in program history.

In addition, Mendez Abolnik has become the 42nd Falcon to appear in the NCAA Regionals for an individual event.

Mendez Abolnik competed in the first round of the competition, placing 28th overall.

Katrina, having a 9.813 season average on vault, now brings the 2023 BGSU Gymnastics season to a close.
