The Bowling Green State University Department of Athletics has announced a reorganization of administrative staff, effective immediately.

According to the press release, the department made the changes in order to “better position Falcon Athletics for continued and enhanced success within the areas supporting revenue generation.”

Director of Athletics Derek van der Merwe issued a statement regarding the changes.

“A critical commitment in this department is to enhance how we support, serve, engage, and communicate with our closest supporters and alumni,” said van der Merwe. “We are committed to excellence in every aspect of our organizational culture.  A dedication to constant improvement will be a cornerstone of our mission.”

The reorganization transitions the Marketing & Brand Enhancement department to be under the direct oversight of Dan Meyer, the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Resource Development.

BGSU will also be reorganizing within the Falcon Club. The press release says that Assistant Athletic Director for Development, Ryan Hite, will focus on regional donor cultivation and stewardship, while a second development officer position will be added with a concentration on “major gift discovery efforts and principal gift identification along with national donor cultivation and stewardship.”

Lindsay Klemm, Falcon Club Coordinator, will be tasked primarily now with annual fund efforts and fundraising events.

Finally, Max Heeke has joined the athletics staff as the Executive Assistant to the Director of Athletics and Recreation. Heeke comes over from Central Michigan University, where he previously held the role of director of budget and financial operations.
