Swim and dive schedule released

The athletics department released the women’s swimming and diving program schedule for the upcoming season today.

“We have some tough meets that will really test us this season,” head coach Rickey Perkins in a news release. “We are very excited and looking forward to the challenges ahead.”

Before the competitive schedule begins, BG will play host to events on back-to-back Saturdays in September with the September 16 Orange vs. Brown meet and the Jean Campbell Alumnae meet September 23.

The Falcons open the season with two meets on the road, opening at Akron Oct. 13-14 and competing against Cleveland State the next weekend. The first home meet brings Ohio to Cooper Pool Saturday, October 28, followed by the Battle of I-75 at Toledo the following weekend.

The fall portion of the schedule ends in Cleveland at the Magnus Cup, hosted by Cleveland State beginning November 16.

The spring schedule opens with the Falcons leaving Ohio for the first time beginning January 6 with a dual meet at Marshall followed by the divers competing in the Buffalo Diving Invite the weekend of January 13.

Mid-American Conference competition dominates the remainder of the schedule with Miami visiting BG on January 19 before a road trip to Easter Michigan the following weekend. The Falcons then compete with Toledo and Buffalo beginning in Toledo February 2 and concluding in BG February 3. After that are the MAC Championships, which will run from February 28 through March 2 in Athens.

The Falcons also hope to place competitors in several national meets beginning in mid-March, including the National Invitational Championships (March 14-16), NCAA Diving Zones (March 15-16) and the NCAA Championships (March 20-23).

Last year, the Falcons finished eighth in the MAC championships while four divers qualified for the NCAA Diving Zones and 12 swimmers for the National Invite Championships.
