In nearly a month, Ohioans will take to the polls to decide on reproductive rights and legalizing marijuana. National Voter Education Week (NVEW) is being celebrated to easily inform voters of important election information – breaking down barriers to the ballot box.
Those looking to vote in the upcoming election must register with the state by Tuesday, Oct. 10. Ohioans can register to vote on the Secretary of State’s website and must have the following information available:
- Ohio driver’s license or Ohio identification card number
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Address
- Last four digits of Social Security number
Following the deadline to register, absentee and early in-person voting hours are set to begin Wednesday, Oct. 11. BGSU Votes, a non-partisan initiative to increase voter turnout amongst the BGSU community, has various resources available on their website to help breakdown information surrounding the elections.
Important dates leading into the election are as follows:
October:
- Oct. 10: Deadline to Register to Vote. Boards close at 9 p.m.
- Oct. 11: Absentee Voting by Mail begins (ends Nov. 6)
- Oct. 11: Early In-Person Voting begins
- Oct. 31: Absentee ballot applications must be received by your board of elections by 8:30 p.m.
November:
- Nov. 6: Mailed absentee ballots must be postmarked by this date.
- Nov. 7: General Election – polls are open from 6:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Nov. 7: Absentee Ballots may be returned by mail or personally delivered to your county board of elections. If not returned by mail, absentee ballots must be received by your board of elections by 7:30 p.m.
- Nov. 13: Last day for boards of elections to receive absentee ballots that have been postmarked on or before Nov. 6.
Early In-Person Voting Hours for October & November (2023 General Election: Nov. 7):
- Oct. 11-13: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Oct. 16-20: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Oct. 23-27: 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Oct. 30: 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Oct. 31: 7:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
- Nov. 1-3: 7:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.
- Nov. 4: 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
- Nov. 5: 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.
