Bowling Green (5-4-3) returned to Missouri Valley Conference action, taking on the Belmont Bruins (6-4-2) in Nashville.
The Bruins would strike early in the 4’ with sophomore forward Brock Kiper opening up the scoring for the Bruins, off an assist from Riley Clothier.
The Orange and Brown would equalize in the 20’ off a free-kick from junior midfielder Alberto Anaya, who got his first goal of the season, making the scoreline 1-1.
Both teams would remain tied going into halftime, as the Falcons outshot the Bruins 5-4 in the first 45’.
Belmont would find what would be the game-winning goal in the 66,’ a long ball over the top from Michael Saunders found forward Ayden von Essen who put the ball in the back of the net to give the Bruins the lead.
The Falcon’s best chance to salvage a point came in the 71’ with another free-kick from Anaya, but the shot was deflected off of the Belmont wall.
In the last minute of the match, BG earned a corner kick which would be the last bit of action in the match but could not find the second equalizer, giving the Orange and Brown their second MVC loss of the season.
Bowling Green outshot Belmont on the night nine to six, both sides were even in shots on goal with four a piece.
Belmont now (7-4-2) overall sits in third place in the Missouri Valley at (3-2-0), and the Falcons now fall to fifth place in the conference (2-2-0) and (5-5-3) on the season.
After a three-game road stand, The Falcons will return home on Wednesday, October 18th to take on the fourth-place University of Illinois Chicago in a big match at Cochrane Stadium. Kick-off for the match is set for 7 p.m.
