Multiple players on the BGSU Hockey team are facing disciplinary measures after an external investigation found them in violation of the BGSU Code of Student Conduct , according to a University spokesperson.
Three players on the BGSU Hockey Team were under investigation for an alleged off-campus hazing incident. BG Falcon Media obtained the Bowling Green Police Department’s completed investigation Tuesday, Nov. 14, determining no players would face criminal charges.
However, Colleen Rerucha, University spokesperson, issued the following statement to BG Falcon Media regarding the incident:
“The University has concluded its conduct process related to activities involving student-athletes at an unsanctioned, off-campus event. Following an external investigation, the University determined there were violations of the BGSU Code of Student Conduct. The involved students have accepted responsibility, and the University has issued proportionate disciplinary measures. Due to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the University is legally unable to provide additional information.”

Following the report of an alleged hazing incident involving members of the BGSU Hockey Team, three players were suspended and Head Coach Ty Eigner was placed on leave.
Austen Swankler, former-forward for the team, entered the transfer portal and committed to Michigan Tech. He also took to Twitter to call out a ‘culture of hazing’ among the hockey team.
Following an external investigation into the coaches knowledge of the events, Head Coach Ty Eigner was reinstated to the team.
No criminal charges are being pressed against players on the team, according to an investigation first-obtained by BG Falcon Media and conducted on behalf of the Bowling Green Police Division.
