Bowling Green women’s basketball’s Lexi Fleming announced earlier Friday afternoon via Instagram that she will be missing the rest of the 2023-24 season with a left knee injury.
“Everything happens for a reason (2nd edition). Senior year came up short but you can’t get rid of me that easily,” said Fleming in the post.
Fleming, a senior from Cincinnati who came into the season with three years of eligibility remaining, suffered the injury early in the first quarter in BGSU’s loss to Indiana on Dec. 22.
This news for Fleming is unfortunately not the first time in her career, as prior to the start of the 2021 season, Fleming suffered a season-ending ACL tear in her right knee.
On the floor, the impact will sorely be missed for first year head coach Fred Chmiel and the Falcons, as Fleming is currently BGSU’s leading scorer, averaging 15 points per game. She is also leading the orange and brown in made three-point field goals with 24, with fellow senior teammate Morgan Sharps just behind her at 20.
The Falcons (6-4) now have to turn the page and start Mid-American Conference play without their soul captain on January 3, when the orange and brown head north to Mt. Pleasant, MI. to face Central Michigan.
