A monster series above home plate by BGSU centerfielder Nathan Archer lead him to earning Mid-American Conference (MAC) honors for the first time ever.
The junior played a big part in the Falcons 3-1 stretch over the four-game period with a two-homerun game against Ohio being the statement in a 26-5 win. Throughout the week Archer also tallied four total homeruns with two doubles on eight total hits for the week.
The honor marks the fourth time this year that a Falcon has won MAC player of the week honors as Tyler Ross earned two on March 11th and 25th with Jack Krause earning one on March 18th.
In total the Orange and Brown have brought home six awards as DJ Newman and Nic Good both won nods as MAC pitcher of the week on March 25th and 11th respectively.
Archer’s massive week halted on Sunday as the Falcons had their 17 game MAC winning streak snapped against the Bobcats with Archer going 0-4 from the plate, having a five game hitting streak come to an end in the 4-2 loss.
The week marks the first time Archer has been given the award in his three-year career as a Falcon, despite leading his team so far this year in doubles (11), homeruns (14), RBI’s (44), hits (53) and runs (48).
Archer will return to action, along with the rest of the team on Wednesday, April 23rd as the Falcons look to rebuild a winning streak against the Dayton Flyers at home at Steller Field.
