Recent WalletHub studies have not been kind to Toledo or Ohio in general.
In May, a study showed Toledo to be among the nation’s most unhealthy cities. That same month, another study showed Ohio carrying one of the nation’s highest student debt loads followed by a June study that showed Ohio’s economy ranked near the bottom.
Tuesday, the most recent WalletHub study showed Toledo among the nation’s least-educated cities. Columbus is the only Ohio city in the top 50 at 44, followed by Cincinnati (57) and Dayton-Kettering (62). Akron and Cleveland showed up at 81 and 82, respectively, and no other Ohio city finished in the top 100.
Toledo landed at 104, just behind San Antonio, Texas and just ahead of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Digging into the numbers a bit, Toledo did finish in the top 100 for what WalletHub calls “Quality of Education & Attainment Gap Rank.”
According to the study, the nation’s most-educated city lies just a bit more than an hour north of Bowling Green in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
