Amid all the doom and gloom inflation news, here’s a morning pick-me-up – Ohioans pay less for a cup of coffee than most.
That’s according to Toast, a point-of-sale platform. They crunched their numbers and determined Ohioans pay an average of $2.79 for a regular cup of coffee while the nationwide average sits at $3.08 a cup. Here’s how our neighboring states fared –
- West Virgina – $2.65
- Indiana – $2.79
- Michigan – $2.83
- Pennsylvania – $2.91
- Kentucky – $3.03
Hawaii might be paradise, but it’s also home to the most expensive cup of coffee at $4.08. California had the highest-priced up in the lower 48 at $3.88. If you’re looking for the best bargain, you can get a cup of coffee in Nebraska for about $2.12, the lowest in the country.
And Midwesterners love their coffee. Axios reports consumption in the Midwest is at an all-time high with 65% of adults saying they’ve had a least a cup in the past day.
All this despite many news outlets, including Newsweek, reporting global coffee bean prices surging.
One final note on the Toast data – more Ohioans prefer tea to regular coffee.
