A functional check flight by the Toledo-based 180th Fighter Wing scheduled for today has been rescheduled to happen Monday between 9:30 to 11 a.m.
The flight typically happens at altitudes of 30,000 feet or more, area residents are likely to hear – and feel – a sonic boom and while the flight is scheduled to happen around Bowling Green and Toledo, people all across Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan may hear a sonic boom once planes reach supersonic speeds.
These test flights happen after significant maintenance on aircraft to make sure they are reading to be placed back into operational rotation.
These flights normally occur above an altitude of 30,000 feet, but area residents may still hear the sonic boom.
Although scheduled for this morning and afternoon, the flights could be delayed or canceled due to weather.
