Lindsey Stirling charmed her Sterling Heights audience Tuesday evening with a performance that packed a punch. Stirling’s “Duality” tour stopped at Michigan Lottery Amphitheatre on Aug. 20 and proved to be a delight.
The evening began with an excellent performance by the first opening act, Nya.
Fans were then treated to a preview of Stirling’s performance during a powerhouse-of-an- opening-act, Walk off the Earth. Stirling joined the band on stage to perform their co-written song, “Long Way Home.”
The show then began with “Eye of the Untold Her,” the first single off of Stirling’s latest album, “Duality.” As Stirling appeared timidly out of the corner of a curtain, fans cheered in astonishment as the music video was brought to life on stage.
The piece included silhouettes shown on the curtain while Stirling tried to find who she was and who she had become, one of the main themes in her music video.
Following an onstage quick-change, Stirling continued her jam-packed show with a mashup of “The Arena” and “Underground.” The two fast-paced songs kept the audience energized and waiting in anticipation for the next ear-catching beat.
As Stirling began the rest of her set with another “Duality” era song, “Firefly Alley” got the crowd pumped up.
The remainder of the show included heart-thumping bass, attention-grabbing dance moves, but also a chance to decompress and relax. Stirling worked a short, interactive breathing exercise into her performance which provided a much-needed moment in an anxiety-filled world.
Finally, the show finished with Stirling’s hit “Survive” from her latest album featuring Walk off the Earth.
However, before the show could officially end, Stirling’s eye was caught by two men in the crowd donning sporty jackets. The men then revealed they’ve been to a total of 94 of Stirling’s concerts.
The men were then invited on stage to perform Stirling’s final piece, complete with both men surprisingly knowing the choreography.
In short, Stirling kept the audience engaged throughout the night and left a positive impact on many.
