BGSU women’s golf traveled to Central Michigan this past weekend to compete in the A-Ga-Ming Invitational at the par 72, 6,000-yard Sundance Golf Course in Mount Pleasant, finishing second out of the 14-team field.
The Falcons ended the tournament with a score of 916 strokes (+52), marking the first time the Orange and Brown have finished inside the top five since they won the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate back on March 19, 2023.
“We just wrapped up our first event of the fall season and I am very pleased with our team. The team fought hard to finish the event runner-up and it was a total team effort,” head coach Erin Fahey said. “It was really special to have all nine Falcons competing together. Overall, I saw a lot of positive things on the course that are encouraging as we continue the season.”
The team had its fair share of standout performances. Sophomore Sammie Dolce finished in a team-high seventh place individually, shooting 77-76-75-228 (+12). Freshman Clare Yeazell, competing in her first-ever tournament as a Falcon, ended with a score of 78-79-73-230(+14) and had a team-leading 10 holes under par.
Additionally, freshman Macie Elzinga, senior Makenna Jones and junior Ava O’Sullivan all tied for 12th overall.
Bowling Green hopes to continue this momentum heading into their next competition, the Powercat Invitational, hosted by Kansas State in Manhattan, Kansas, on Sept. 9-10.
