The Bowling Green men’s cross country team fielded seven runners in the 50th edition of the Paul Short Run on Saturday.
The race, one of the biggest and most competitive races in the country, was hosted by Lehigh and took place at the Goodman Campus Cross Country Course in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
The team placed last out of 44 universities in the gold race, an 8,000-meter competition. The Falcons finished with a total time of 2:14:35, with an average time of just under 27 minutes per competitor.
Wingate won the gold race with a blistering total time of just 1:57:53.
Sophomore Ben Myers was the highest-placing Falcon, finishing 323rd out of the 394-runner field with a time of 26:32.8.
Senior Anthony Sweet and sophomore Micah Bentley finished in 325th and 326th place, respectively. In his season debut, Sweet completed the race with a time of 26:35.2 while Bentley trailed just behind with a final time of 26:35.7.
Sophomore Luke Woolard (27:03.2), senior Charlie Nowinski (27:48.3) and sophomore Bryce Weber (28:17.6) finished in 344th, 362nd and 366th place, respectively.
Meanwhile, freshman Luke Lessuer rounded out the Falcons, finishing in 367th place with a final time of 28:27.5 in his collegiate debut.
Utah State senior Camren Todd won the men’s gold race with a time of 23:18.8.
Next, the Falcons will compete at their Falcon Invitational at the Mel Brodt Cross Country Course in Bowling Green on Friday, Oct. 18.
