In addition to being a home for the BGSU Falcons Hockey Team, the Slater Family Ice Arena provides the opportunity for community members and students over the age of 18 to participate in their Adult Hockey League.
The fall league is 3 on 3 with A/B league and C league levels combined. All teams may be co-ed and have a maximum of seven players, including the goalie.
During the 25 minute games, a maximum of three players per line and one goalie are permitted on the ice. Games are played on the Multi-Purpose Ice Arena at Slater. Protective helmets with full face masks are required and no slap shots or checking is allowed.
This year’s 3 on 3 Fall League kicked off their 10 week season on Sunday, September 29th. The Silly Gooses Hockey Team had two games on the first Sunday of the league. Although they lost to Truck Guys 9-1 and Brathaus 16-1, their smiles and persistent attitudes gave them a positive start to the season.
Graduate Assistant at the Slater Family Ice Arena, Sean Rafferty II, explained that at the conclusion of the season, a regular season champion will be crowned because this specific league does not hold playoffs. As such, more wins for a team puts them closer to the crown and league trophy.
