The BGSU men’s cross country team returned home to the Mel Brodt Cross Country Course for the Falcon Invitational, an 8k race, on Friday afternoon.
The Falcons had a good showing, finishing sixth out of 14 universities with an average time of 26:49.
“I think it was a positive day,” head cross country coach Lou Snelling said after the race. “We worked hard, that’s going to be the message. Regardless of whatever the numbers were, we worked hard today, and we have to be really proud of that effort, and we know that’s going to get us bigger things as we keep moving forward.”
Bowling Green had two runners finish inside the top 30, as sophomores Micah Bentley and Ben Myers placed in 24th and 25th place with times of 26:20.70 and 26:23.80, respectively.
“It’s really cool because they run together so frequently, not only in workouts but races as well,” assistant cross country coach Candace Archer said after the race. “They are able to now apply themselves from workouts to racing, and that’s just a really cool transition to see.”
Seniors Anthony Sweet and Michael Nowinski both placed in the top 50, finishing in 37th and 48th with times of 26:44.8 and 27:13.0, respectively.
Meanwhile, two other Falcons finished inside the top 60. Sophomore Luke Woolard placed 52nd with a time of 27:18.7, while freshman Luke Lesseuer finished 56th with a time of 27:25.9.
Sophomore Bryce Weber and freshman Jim Trzaska rounded out the finishers for the Orange and Brown. Weber clocked a time of 27:45.5, earning 64th place, while Trzaska finished 78th at 28:50.0.
Next, Bowling Green will prepare for the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship at the Ball State Cross Country Course in Muncie, Indiana, on Saturday, Nov. 2.
