Bowling Green junior tight end Harold Fannin Jr. has been named one of the eight semifinalists for the 2024 John Mackey Award, given to the most outstanding tight end in college football.
Fannin has earned the John Mackey Award’s Tight End of the Week award three times (weeks four, five and eight) and joins Ball State’s Tanner Koziol as the only two Group of Five semifinalists. Others include Michigan’s Colston Loveland, Penn State’s Tyler Warren, LSU’s Mason Taylor, Notre Dame’s Mitchell Evans, Texas’ Gunnar Helm and Vanderbilt’s Eli Stowers.
Harold Fannin Jr. is up to 1,033 yards and six touchdowns on 73 receptions this season.
RECORD WATCH
Fannin broke Bowling Green’s single-season reception record for a tight end on Tuesday night against Central Michigan, previously set by Mark Dowdell in 1983 (70). He is now just three receptions shy of breaking Dowdell’s record for career receptions by a tight end, with 138.
Fannin is two receiving touchdowns short of Jimmy Schiedler (seven touchdowns in 2008), who holds the record for receiving touchdowns in a season by a Falcon tight end.
