BGSU men’s soccer star junior forward Trace Terry has been selected by the Seattle Sounders FC in the third round (76th overall) of the 2025 Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft.
Terry is coming off a season in which he was named a United Soccer Coaches All-American, scoring 12 goals and adding five assists.
“We are thrilled for Trace and the incredible opportunity ahead of him,” said BGSU head coach Eric Nichols. “Seattle is gaining not only an exceptional player but also an outstanding individual. The most exciting part is that Trace’s best days are still to come, and we are thrilled to be a part of this journey with him.”
In the Top Drawer Soccer Midseason Top 100 list in mid-October, Terry was ranked the No. 16 player in the nation.
The Bellbrook, Ohio native was also named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) First Team and MVC’s All-Tournament Team. He was also awarded a spot in the United Soccer Coaches All-West Region First Team.
In his three seasons with Bowling Green, Terry has appeared in 51 games, made 36 starts, and scored 18 goals and 11 assists.
Terry has one final year of eligibility left and can elect to return to college and Bowling Green for the 2025 season, per MLS SuperDraft 2025 Rules and Regulations. Terry will not be draft-eligible in the future.
Terry is the first Falcon drafted since Joey Akpunonu, who was drafted in the first round (22nd overall) by FC Cincinnati in the 2023 Superdraft.
BGSU Hall-of-Famer Steve Klein was the first ever Falcon selected in 1997 by the New England Revolution in the third round (22nd overall). Current assistant coach Ryan James was picked in the third round (52nd overall) by Sporting Kansas City in 2016, while three years later, the Chicago Fire drafted Ebenezer Ackon 53rd overall in the third round of the 2019 Superdraft.
In 2022, Bowling Green’s Jacob Erlandson was selected by the Columbus Crew in the second round (40th overall).
