A water main break between E Court St and Pike St has dumped massive amounts of water into the streets and sidewalks on those roads. According to the university and city officials, the broken main has affected water levels across campus.
“Due to a main water break in Bowling Green, water pressure at multiple BGSU dining locations has been reduced, affecting some services,” a BGSU dining social media post from Wednesday afternoon said. “…Our teams are currently implementing contingency plans to best serve our guests.”
Campus Operations at BGSU sent out an email to students on Wednesday afternoon following the break.
“Earlier today, the city of Bowling Green reported and contained a water main break on Court Street. Due to the break, water pressure has been impacted across the city, including the Bowling Green State University main campus,” the email said. “We are working closely with the city of Bowling Green to monitor this situation. If you experience water pressure issues on campus in residence halls, office and classrooms, or other campus facilities, please submit a work order to Campus Operations.”
Brian O’Connell, the director of public infrastructure and utilities director for the city of Bowling Green, credited the low water pressure on campus to the main break and said his team is working to get the broken main fixed by late Wednesday afternoon.
“The booster pumps are not able to get water up the floors to large buildings like dorms, which could be why students are experiencing lower water pressure,” O’Connell said. “We isolated the break, and our crews are working to get it repaired.”
