On Saturday, April 5, the Office of Campus Sustainability is hosting an Electronic Waste Recycling Drive for the entire BG community from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Slater Family Ice Arena parking lot.
The drive accepts anything with a cord or is battery operated such as desktop computers and laptops, flatscreen or LCD monitors and TVs, printers, cellphones, cameras, household appliances, electronic tools, batteries, etc.
According to Sustainability Coordinator Zachary Hayes, tube TVs and CRT screens, DVDs, CDs, hard drives, and flash drives will not be accepted.
“There’s like 50 million tons of electronics thrown away across the U.S. every year…,” said Hayes. “We essentially just want to make sure they’re disposed of properly so it’s important to take your old electronics and not just toss them out.”
This is a free event where people can drive in, donate their electronics and drive out.
If there is bad weather, the event will not be cancelled. For more information, visit the Office of Campus Sustainability’s website.
