The Falcon Fanatics, a student-led, official BGSU Athletics sports fan group, is set to host a unique opportunity for BGSU students to connect with the newest Falcon head coach.
The Falcon Fanatics Tailgate Brunch, hosted by BGSU’s new football head coach Eddie George, will allow students to meet and greet with George and the team. The tailgate, which will be held Saturday, April 12 at Doyt Perry Stadium, will open the stadium doors to students at 9 a.m.
Breakfast will be promptly served at the event for those in attendance. The breakfast menu for students will include mocktails and breakfast sandwiches provided by Biggby Coffee.
Upon arrival, students will have the opportunity to sit in the stands and watch George and the new Falcon football team conduct a real team practice. After the practice, students will be let onto the field.
On the field, students will have the opportunity to meet George and the new Falcon team, and attendees will even get the opportunity to receive a signed autograph from their new head coach. George, an Ohio State University and Tennessee Titans football alum, took over as the Falcons’ new head coach on March 9, 2025.
Students said they were excited for the opportunity to get to know their new head coach. Hannah Koester, a freshman intervention specialist and special education major and BGSU Falcon Marching Band member, said the event means a lot.
“I think he’s doing a really nice thing for the campus by wanting to meet the people and wanting to meet who he’s really coming to,” Koester said. “I know he’s from Ohio State, which is a big, prestigious university that’s well known for its football team and its band, so knowing that he’s coming to a little town in the middle of nowhere means a lot.”
As a band member, Koester said she attends every football game and is excited to see the new team.
“I’m really excited to see how the new year will look because I know he’s also bringing other famous football players in, so I think it’ll be a very interesting new season,” Koester said.
Koester said she and her friends are planning to be in attendance and are eager to meet George and the team.
“I know a friend who is actually planning to meet him, so I think she’s really excited about that,” Koester said.
BGSU student Brock Brennan, a sophomore accounting major, said he is excited to meet George.
“I think it’s really exciting. I think it’s nice that people are gonna be able to meet him, especially with him coming in as a new head coach, so I think that’ll be good to have some students to be able to go and meet him,” Brennan said.
As a big football fan, Brennan said he and his friends may attend the meet-and-greet.
“I haven’t talked with anyone about it yet, but I could definitely see that [attending] in the future,” Brennan said. “At least for me, sports is a big thing, so everyone that I’m friends with already knows quite a bit about him.”
With high hopes for the new team, Brennan is excited for the next season.
“I’m just hoping for a better season than last season, just to continue to beat Toledo, get a bowl game and I’m more so excited to see how the team shifts with the new head coach,” Brennan said.
The event is a student-only event, and registration is required. A registration link was sent to the BGSU email of every student, and students will not be permitted access to the event without having their ticket saved to their digital phone wallet.
