The BG men’s basketball team faced off against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers Monday night and came out with the win 74-62 over the Hilltoppers.
The Hilltoppers started the game fast and in control as they broke out to a 9-0 lead. The Falcons did not let that lead sit for long as senior Craig Sealey scored 6 straight points off the bench and the Falcons got right back into the game.
The referees set the tempo of how the game would be called, there were 23 fouls called in the first half and 13 of those were against the Falcons.
Sealey scored 11 points in the first half to lead the Falcons back and give them a 36-34 lead at half time.
The second half started the exact opposite as the first for the Falcons. They came out fast as they went on an 11-0 run to start the half. The Hilltoppers did not score their first points of the game until around the 14 minute mark when guard Brandon Price drove to the basket and scored.
Just like the first half the referees had an influence on the second half as both teams accumulated more than ten fouls just ten minutes into the half.
The Hilltoppers would continue to fight towards the end of the game as they would hit three after three in the last two minutes but it would not be enough.
The Falcons will be back in action Dec. 7 as they travel to Xavier University, for more information on the basketball game pick up Wednesday’s issue of the BG News.
