The BG hockey team defeated conference opponent Bemidji State 3-1 at the BG Ice Arena on Friday night.
Bemidji State took the lead early in the game with a first period goal. However, the Falcons scored three unanswered goals in the win.
Tommy Burke recorded 21 saves on the night. Burke now has a 4-2-1 record on the season.
Midway through the second period, BG forward Adam Berkle scored his first goal of the season to tie the game 1-1. Mike Sullivan and Dan DeSalvo recorded assists on the goal.
Seventeen seconds into the third period, Mike Sullivan scored to make it 2-1 Falcons. Defenseman Sean Walker recorded an assist on the play.
With 13 seconds remaining in regulation, Jakob Reichart added an empty net goal, giving the Falcons a 3-1 victory.
BG finished the game with 25 shots on goal, and the Beavers had 22 shots on goal. Both teams were held scoreless on the power play.
The Falcons improve to 9-3-1 on the season, and 6-1-0 in Western Collegiate Hockey Association play. BG now has a two-game winning streak.
BG will face Bemidji State again at the BG Ice Arena on Saturday night. The puck will drop at 7:07 p.m.
