University student killed by train

A University student was struck and killed by a train last night. At 2:35 a.m. Friday, a Bowling Green Police officer discovered the gates of the East Wooster Street crossing were down and a Northbound CSX train was stopped. After contacting CSX, police learned the crew had just reported they may have hit a pedestrian.

Police located the body of Timothy Gregory, 21, an undergraduate student at the University, at 2:37 a.m. Witnesses reported that Gregory had been lying on the tracks and that the train was unable to stop in time.

The incident is still under investigation by Bowling Green Police and the Wood County Coroner’s office. Look for more information in the next issue of the BG News.
