The Falcons competed at the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Women’s Golf championship from Sunday to Tuesday, and the Falcons season ends not in the way they were hoping. 

On Day one, BG came out strong, starting with a score of 315 over round one with strong showings from #2 Golfer Mackenna Jones shooting a 76 and #5 Golfer Sammie Dolce shooting a 79. This strong performance led the falcons to a 4th place finish after day one and a lot of promise entering day two.

Day two, however, is where the wheels fell off. The Falcons shot 324, the worst team score by five strokes, and dropped five positions of the team rankings. #3 and #4 golfers respectively Ava O’Sullivan and Olivia Steen were the two golfers under 80 for the round, but #1 golfer Kayla Davis continued to struggle. Shooting 88 and 87 over the first two days, a total of 31 strokes over par.

Day three was a slight return to form, shooting 321 as a team and moving up into the eighth position where they would finish the tournament. Sammie Dolce hit another 79, Kayla Davis improved vastly shooting an 80 on day 3, and Olivia Steen and Mackenna Jones both shot an 81 on the day. Ava O’Sullivan She finished her tournament with an 87, the lowest score of the Falcons, but she maintained a respectable T37th overall finish.

Steen led the falcons all weekend, shooting 240 total and a T24th overall finish. 

This season, O’Sullivan broke BGSU’s single-season average mark with a 75.18 score per round while Dolce set the program record for lowest freshman average mark with a 75.65.

Meanwhile, Davis, who was awarded the MAC Sportswoman of the Year for the second consecutive year, finished her BGSU career with a 77.01 scoring average, the second-best mark in program history.
