  • My Favorite Book – Freshwater
If there’s one book that I believe everyone should read once in their life, it’s my favorite book – Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi. From my course, Queer Literature under Dr. Bill Albertini, I discovered Emezi’s Freshwater (2018). Once more, my course, Creative Writing Thesis Workshop under Professor Amorak Huey, was instructed to present our favorite […]

Men could clinch MAC Championship tonight

‘We’ve said all season that the next game is that biggest game,’ men’s basketball head coach Louis Orr said. Orr has indeed been saying that same thing all season long, but tonight when his team travels south for a meeting with the Miami Redhawks, it will be more true then ever. BG, 17-11 (10-4 Mid-American Conference), will enter the game in a first place tie with the Buffalo Bulls. Miami, 16-11 (9-5 MAC), will enter the game still very much in contention for a first round by in the MAC Tournament themselves. Some of the night’s most important action will be taking place at another game, the one being played in Kent State. If the Golden Flashes can pull off a win in their game, and BG can beat Miami, the Falcons will be regular season MAC Champions for the first time in nine years. ‘I thank god, I’m etremely happy for everything they accomplish,’ Orr said. In one of the most improbable runs in recent memory, the Falcons have gone from being a team that could be called mediocre at best, to a team that is on the brink of clinching a postseason birth. The Falcons will once againneed a big performance from Nate Miller. Miller has been scoring in bunches as of late, hitting huge shots whenever the team has needed them. But perhaps his most important contributions have been down low. When Chris Knight went down with an inured ankle in the first minute of the teams recent win over Buffalo, many thought the Falcons would suffer badly on the boards. In their first game without Knight, the team was pushed around and beaten by lowly Canisius. Since then however, Miller has established himself as a rebounding force, and currently leads the team in that category. ‘I try to get down there and fight,’ Miller said. Fighting is something the Falcons have been doing all season. They’ve been down at several times and hits numerous lows, but each time have managed to climb out of the holes they’ve planted themselves in. Now BG is a win and a Kent State victory away from being conference champions. The championship is theirs for the taking, now it’s up to them to reach out and grab it.
